Anant S Awasthy

Full Stack Developer

Anant S Awasthy is a 2nd-year master's student at Simon Fraser University.  He has worked as a full-stack engineer for various start-ups and MNCs. He started his career as a mobile engineer and gradually developed an interest in full-stack web development. He joined LiteFarm as a full-stack developer as a co-op intern. Presently, Anant is interested in frontend, backend, and cloud computing technologies.

Bailey McDonald

​Bailey is a software developer based in Austin, Texas. A former preschool teacher, she started studying software development in 2022 and hasn’t looked back. With degrees in History and Philosophy, Bailey has always been drawn to the analytical side of thinking, and enjoys combining problem solving with new technologies. She’s excited to be learning and growing as a full-stack developer at LiteFarm, especially because in her spare time she has a green thumb and enjoys tending to her own garden.

Carlos Moreira

Carlos was born and lives in Brazil. He started studying software development in 2019 and got his first position in this area in 2020, when he started working for a private company that offers software and engineer services to the Brazilian photovoltaic market. Before that, Carlos graduated in social sciences from The Federal University of Santa Catarina, worked with social research and as a lifeguard. When he can, Carlos likes to be with his family and friends, close to nature, with a book, running or swimming.

Gabriel Góes

Gabriel Góes is the field technician at Movimento Mecenas da Vida (MMV), who works with farmers of the LiteFarm pilot project in Northeast Brazil (State of Bahia). He 's got a bachelor' s degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and a master 's degree in Plant Production from the State University of Santa Cruz (UESC). Gabriel is, also, an organic farmer, certified by the participatory guarantee system Rede de Agroecologia Povos da Mata and a member of the Embaúba Association (Organic Producers of Itacaré-Serra Grande). He lives, with his family, in an intentional rural community, based on the principles of Permaculture, where he cultivates biodiverse agroforestry systems, with an emphasis on cocoa, cupuaçu, banana and açaí.

Gursimran Singh

A passionate developer who loves to challenge himself to gain new skills. Over the years, has worked on both frontend and backend domain to become a full stack developer. Currently, getting his hands dirty with cloud technologies. Joined the LiteFarm project to support the community, help farmers and make an impact in agriculture sector.

Isabela Tsutiya Andrade

Isabela Andrade is a field technician in the LiteFarm project. She works at CEPAGRO, a NGO that works with Agroecology in Santa Catarina, Brazil, and she is a Master Student in Agroecosystems in the Federal University of Santa Catarina. In the last 4 years, Isabela has worked with environmental conservation, sanitation and agroecology. She also has a MBA in Social Responsability and Non-Governamental Organizations from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and a BS in Sanitary and Environmental Engineer from the Federal University of Santa Catarina. In her free time, Isa loves hiking, spending time in nature, travelling to new places and cooking with her friends.

Isabela

Mika Saryan

Mika Saryan is one of the engineering contributors to the LiteFarm project. He has 20+ years of experience in architecting and building software and IoT products in Consumer and B2B industries. Mika is very passionate about ecological agriculture and hopes to see LiteFarm grow into a go to platform for all farmers who embrace regenerative practices. In his spare time Mika loves being outdoors skiing, hiking, and climbing with his family.

Richard Wasswa

Full Stack Developer

Richard Wasswa is a Full-Stack Engineer. For the last five years, he has worked as a software engineer in the Medical, financial, and agricultural technology industries. He has also contributed to various open-source projects like Mifos / Fineract Community application, a core banking solution, and LiteFarm. He has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Mbarara University of Science and Technology, and various software engineering certifications.

Navdeep Dhammu 

Navdeep is a self-taught software developer who is eager to use his skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on the farming community through his work with LiteFarm. He volunteers with the organization in his spare time, constantly seeking to learn and grow as a developer. With a background in the skilled trades and experience running a small construction business, he brings a unique and diverse set of skills as he transitions into a new career in tech.

Zia Mehrabi

Founder

Dr. Mehrabi builds data products and services using a mix of public and private sector data, and combines this with cutting edge statistics and data science to solve problems in development for a better and fairer planet. He has experience in academia and as a consultant in the private and non-profit sectors in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe, and N. America. He holds a BA in Biological Sciences and a PhD from the University of Oxford. He founded LiteFarm and is thrilled to see where it is taking farmers today.
